In my ongoing attempt to reach mountain goat status, I am trying to get a quadruple activation into my log.
I am offering two incentives to all chasers:
- A unique set of QSL cards for all stations contacting me on all (four) summits
- A ‘handful’ of real mountain goat (Oreamnos americanus) wool.
To qualify, you have to spot me on SOTAWATCH (only the first spot per summit/band/frequency counts). Each spot counts towards the ‘grand price’… The station posting the most spots will receive a small amount of wool in the mail. Delivery expected in September (as soon as I find a cooperative mountain goat). In case of a tie, the winner will be determined by the amount of power used for the contact (less=better).
Please provide screen-shots of your spots on SOTAWATCH via e-mail – I probably can’t make it back home in time to check the spots.
Here is my plan:
Date: 10 July 2013 ~14:oo UTC - Squaw Mtn - W0C/PR-082 - 11500ft - 6 Pts ~16:00 UTC - Chief Mtn - W0C/FR-030 - 11709ft - 6 Pts ~19:30 UTC - Mt Judge - W0C/FR-047 - 10301ft - 4 Pts ~22:00 UTC - Genesee Mtn - W0C/FR-194 - 8284ft - 2 Pts
Frequencies:
- 14.3425-ssb +/- QRM
- 144.200-ssb (not for Mt. Judge)
- and I am monitoring 146.52-fm.
If I have coverage, you can follow my progress via APRS.
QRP (5W) only.
Equip.: FT-817 and vertical Buddipole, Tape-measure Yagi for 2m
Keep your ears/antennas pointed towards Colorado.
Thanks
Matt / KØMOS
!! WARNING !! There are old mountaineers, and bold mountaineers... there are no old-bold mountaineers. Hiking and mountain climbing are potentially hazardous activities particularly in Colorado with its extreme elevations. I am not accepting responsibility for any death or injury resulting from activations based on my trip reports. Proper training, experience, and personal capability assessment is required - enjoy!
